Automated Safety Calls

Automated Safety Calls can be used to check people are safe but we do not recommend it for most people, for whom Safety Confirmation is a better option.

Important notes ...

  • For most people Safety Confirmation is better choice because you do not have to wait for a call, have more freedom, may find it less stressful and it is more useful to people with impaired hearing.
  • There is a risk with Automated Safety Calls that the person you are calling is randomly pressing buttons on the phone, which may yield an inaccurate record of whether they are okay.
  • We have learned through experience many people find Automated Safety Calls invasive and therefore recommend Safety Confirmation instead.

We make an automated call to someone and ask them to confirm they are safe by pressing a number on their phone.

This can be used to check people are safe but we do not recommend it for most people, for whom Safety Confirmation is a better option. For reasons see left column.

How Automated Safety Calls work

You schedule one or more phone calls to be made to someone each day at times you choose. You can even specify the message.

At the chosen times we try calling that person several times over a period that you can choose. For example 15, 30 or 60 mins.

If the person doesn't answer and press a button to confirm they are safe, we can then notify chosen contacts.

The contacts can be notified by automated phone call, real operator phone call, text message or email. The choice is yours.

Please note we also provide users with a freephone number to call us and let us know if they are going to be away.

We strongly recommend Safety Confirmation as an alternative
