The Government’s forthcoming ‘Social Care Green Paper’ will highlight, amongst other things, that embracing new technology, innovation and workforce models will play a key role in supporting an ageing population and delivering better quality social care.

Alertacall are excited to be attending and speaking at Social Care Reform: Improving Care and Support for Older People in Manchester on Thursday 1st November 2018.

This conference will be held at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and will offer attendees the opportunity to discover more about the Government’s plans to reform the social care sector, and how it intends to provide sustainable support for older people. The conference will see expert speakers discuss the contents of the Government green paper on social care through a series of presentations, a debate on funding with highly informed panellists, and the sharing of examples of best practice.

As part of the conference programme our CEO and founder, James Batchelor, will be presenting on: ‘How daily contact with older people can unlock powerful preventative actions, reduce loneliness and streamline service provision in social care.’ The presentation will focus on how technology can be a powerful tool in the care and support of older people, particularly when used to improve daily human contact, the results can be life and service changing. This will take place at 12.45pm and will be followed by a 10 minute question and answer session.

We are delighted to be part of such a significant programme alongside other expert speakers including the Rt Hon. Prof Paul Burstow, Chair of The Social Care Institute for Excellence and President of the Telecare Services Association, who will examine “Social Care Futures” , Sharon Allen, CEO of Skills for Care, who is talking about “Outstanding Care for Older People”, and Mick Ward, Chief Officer for Innovation and Transformation, Adults and Health at Leeds City Council, who will be discussing the topic of “Older People and Digital [technology]”.

Furthermore, there is also the opportunity to meet members of the Alertacall team on stand no. 1 on the day. We will be showcasing our WellBeing Proactive service, a preventative, person-centered service that opens up a channel of communication with individuals who have higher needs to improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation, save lives and deliver efficiencies in health and social care. Alertacall believes that daily contact should be at the heart of all services for independent people and, with technology like ours, it can help reduce DTOCs days, reduce missed appointments, improve mental health and aid recovery from illness.

This proactive approach regularly saves lives and guarantees that people get the help and support they need, even if they are unable to activate help themselves. The system can also be used to set up wake up calls and reminders to attend hospital appointments or take medication.
