Neil Jurd, Non-Executive Director of Alertacall, has been awarded the OBE in the Queen’s 2021 New Year’s Honours List. An executive coach and expert on leadership, Neil helps drive leadership strategy and development at Alertacall.

Neil holds the rank of Colonel in the British Army and is a former Sandhurst instructor. He led Gurkha soldiers on active operations in Iraq, as well as having served in Yemen, Sierra Leone and the former Republic of Yugoslavia.

Neil received the honour for his work with the Army Cadets where he has volunteered for several years, created and run a leadership training programme for them and helped the Lancashire arm of the cadets (where he was Commandant for 5 years) become one of the highest performing cadet forces in the country.

During his tenure there, more than 500 cadets from Lancashire took part in overseas training, including an exchange trip with Barbados cadets which he initiated. Concerned that some cadets could not afford to participate in activities, Neil also created a charity “The Friends of Lancashire Army Cadets” to support disadvantaged cadets.

In addition to this, Neil also founded another charity The Michelle Jurd Memorial Trust in memory of his wife, an accomplished service person herself, who died in a car accident several years ago. To date, The Michelle Jurd Memorial Trust has raised £100k+ for schools and other children’s charities to put on arts and adventure activities – as well as to support ex-service people.

James Batchelor, CEO and Founder, commented:

“I am absolutely delighted that my friend and colleague of many years Neil has received this much deserved recognition in the New Year’s honours list. Neil has been involved with Alertacall for the best part of a decade, he is a part owner and non-executive director of Alertacall – and one of the people I talk to about leadership, people development, and all sorts of other ideas too on a regular basis. It is a pleasure and an honour to know him.”

Neil has in the last 12 months also published a book on leadership which is available on Amazon entitled ‘The Leadership Book’. He has also made an entire leadership course available online at his web site www.neiljurd.com, with over 30 lessons using a series of videos.
