Alertacall will be discussing the advantages of daily contact in improving services and reducing loneliness at the ‘Healthy Ageing: The Grand Challenge’ conference in Manchester on the 19th March.

Alertacall is a key supporter of the ‘Healthy Ageing: the Grand Challenge’ one-day conference to be held at Manchester Conference Centre on Tuesday 19th March, and we are excited to be among the guest speakers. Aimed in particular at those working in the housing, health and social care sectors, the event focuses on the current and future health needs of the UK’s older population. It identifies ways in which we can promote better health in later life, and manage long-term physical and mental health conditions.

After all, UK life expectancy has been steadily increasing and it is estimated that 1 in 7 people will be aged over 75 by 2040, with a third of children born today expected to reach the age of 100. An ageing population requires new considerations, especially in health and social care provision. Being healthy and happy contributes to our personal wellbeing and benefits society as a whole, helping us to live independently and be less reliant on medical and social care intervention. The ‘Healthy Ageing: The Grand Challenge’ conference will feature expert presentations and offer attendees a greater insight into the required adaptations in approach, products and services required to support healthier later life.

Our CEO and company founder James Batchelor will be presenting a case study on the subject of “How Daily Contact with Older People can Unlock Powerful Preventative Actions, Reduce Loneliness and Save Money”. The presentation focuses on how technology can be a powerful tool in the support of older people, and when used to improve daily contact with specially trained team members – instead of replacing it – the results can be life and service changing. This takes place at 11.45am.

We are delighted to be part of such a significant programme alongside other speakers like Caroline Dinenage MP, Minister of State for Care for the Department of Health. She will be presenting on the subject of “Supporting Healthier Older Lives”. This talk will focus on the importance of developing effective interventions to prevent or delay the onset of chronic disease, and treatments that will support and increase in healthy life expectancy
