South West London housing association to share approach to new homes

Progressive South-West London Housing Association and Alertacall customer, Sutton Housing Society, is to host an opportunity to go behind-the-scenes on its remarkable journey to redefine senior living.

A free industry event, Aiming Higher, will be held on the morning of 8th October 2025, and will bring together industry leaders, including Nigel Flower from housing tech innovators Alertacall.

Aiming Higher will lift the lid on how Sutton has developed highly innovative new rooftop homes – delivering desirable housing for older people that includes some of the latest senior living innovations.

Alertacall empowers older and vulnerable people in social housing to stay safe, connected, and informed with their Housing Proactive service, delivered via their innovative touchscreen, blending smart tech with proactive human contact.

Sutton Housing Society is in the process of delivering 170 affordable new homes, many of which are now occupied, all without purchasing a single square metre of new land.

Rooftop or ‘airspace’ developments, homes built on existing buildings, could offer a high-impact, scalable way of delivering much-needed, new, affordable urban housing across the UK, especially where available land is limited.

The event is an opportunity to hear from Chief Executive Robin Roberts, rooftop technical and design experts, and innovators in senior living – plus residents.

Attendees will also learn how Sutton was recently named the nation’s Best Small Non-for Profit to work for by The Sunday Times, and the best Older Person Landlord in the UK Housing Awards.

Robin Roberts, Chief Executive at Sutton Housing Society, said: “Aiming Higher is an opportunity for the industry to hear Sutton’s senior living story, and learn from our knowledge and experiences, whilst also gaining a useful technical background, because, for a smaller landlord. Our aspirations have been bold, and we want to share what can be achieved.”

Nigel Flower, Client Development Manager at Alertacall said: “As an innovator in housing technology, Alertacall loves working with forward-thinking organisations like Sutton Housing, who find solutions to improve the lives of their residents and help them stay independent for longer. I’m looking forward to sharing ideas at the event.”

Free tickets are limited, and places are prioritised for housing professionals, but people from outside the social housing sector are welcome to register an interest (attendance is at the discretion of the organisers).
