Alertacall is excited to announce an expedition to China which will take place on 10th-18th October 2020. Clients and team members from Alertacall are invited to sign up for the trip so they can then start planning their fundraising efforts.

The trek will be sponsored, raising vital funds for The Silver Line, the only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Founded in 2013 by Dame Esther Rantzen, The Silver Line has received more than 2,000,000 calls. They now receive more the 10,000 calls each week from lonely and isolated older people, with 53% of callers saying they have literally no one else to speak to.

The ‘Great Wall of China’ trek will see our team take on thousands of steps up and down an unrenovated stretch of wall with crumbling steps. Sections of the trek through the Yan Mountains include the Jinshanling Loop, Gubeikou Gateway, Mutianyu section, Huanghuacheng, Badaling Great Wall and even the famed ‘Heavenly Staircase’. The team will also spend the nights on the wall in small lodges, throughout the hike.

The Silver Line is Alertacall’s chosen charity, and this activity builds on the many other fundraising events already held, including launching the annual ‘Silver Way’, a 30-mile walk through Cumbria’s challenging terrain.
