Alertacall will once again be hosting an Ideas Lab with the Chartered Institute of Housing (‘CIH’) on Wednesday 6 October 2021 at 10:30am, this time with a focus on the Social Housing White Paper. Presenting alongside Alertacall, will be speakers from two housing providers – Winner, a supported housing model for women based in Hull, and Torus, the biggest housing provider in the North West. The event is free to attend to both members and non-members of the CIH.

The Social Housing White Paper published in November 2020 by the UK Government set out a new Charter with seven commitments that residents should expect from their landlord. Ultimately, that home provision should offer individuals ‘safety, security and dignity’.

At the heart of the report is the recommendation to improve two-way engagement with residents, giving them a more active voice in the standard of housing provided but also making housing providers more accountable for keeping residents informed in relation to performance.

This session will look at best practices adopted by two housing providers to meet the guidance set out in the White Paper. In particular, how to maintain and encourage regular contact with residents and their housing service, improve repairs reporting and the digital services and IoT devices available to help to further increase safety and security.

Learning outcomes
  • Overview and key learning points from the Social Housing White Paper.
  • Best practice approaches to improving two-way engagement with residents and their housing service.
  • The role of IoT devices in helping housing providers take proactive approach to identifying issues.
  • How to overcome the barriers to digital inclusion to encourage residents to report repairs more effectively.
Speakers
  • Benjamin Lambert, Head of Client Relations, Alertacall
  • Jacqui Byrne, Operations Manager Sheltered and Staying Home, Torus
  • Alison Ashton, Domestic Abuse and Housing Service Manager, Winner

You will be able to submit questions to the speakers in the session and they will be able to discuss the issues raised further with other delegates in the networking lounge.
