Alertacall is all set to return to Europe’s largest award-winning housing festival: Housing 2022, held at Manchester Central from 28 – 30 June. With over 450 speakers and 8000 attendees across three days, this is the biggest event for the housing sector. We’re extremely excited to be back in attendance, meeting other professionals in the sector and, more excitingly, speaking at the event. You can find the team on stand G12. Book your tickets here

This year, the focus will be on the levelling up agenda in the sector; how through leadership, partnerships, and innovation we can overcome the barriers currently faced in the housing sector and put the needs of tenants and residents at the heart of our endeavours.

This year alongside showcasing our award-winning housing technology and digital telecare, Alertacall will explore how housing technology for older people has changed over the last 20 years and what social housing providers can do now to ensure they future proof their housing service.

Our director, Martin Cutbill, will be speaking at the event in collaboration with Tina Lavender and Jonathan Cohen from One Manchester with focus on ‘Digital Switchover: Replacing hardwired alarm systems in supports housing in practice.’

You can join them at the Knowledge Stage on Tuesday 28 June between 13:30 – 14:15.

Martin will be discussing:

  • What the main drivers for change in supported housing currently are, and how social landlords can address these issues.
  • How social housing providers can overcome barriers in digital engagement in line with the Social Housing White Paper.
  • How to prepare for the Digital Switchover 2025; Martin will discuss what this is, any implications that social housing providers may face, and how to develop an effective plan to ensure a smooth transition into the Digital Switchover.
  • The extent to which WiFi can replace hardwired systems in sheltered and supported housing, thus facilitating higher levels of digital engagement amongst residents and making other services, such as video door entry, video calls, and CCTV, far more assessable and cost-effective.

Tina Lavender and Jonathan Cohen from One Manchester will further discuss their journey in decommissioning their hardwired equipment and switching to a WiFi based system, improving service delivery, creating efficiencies and increasing digital engagement with their older residents.

Alertacall’s range of services are all designed to increase resident safety, promote better communication and create more digitally connected homes.

Taking centre stage in our demo suite on tour is our portable touchscreen device. It is an easy to set up device (simply plug it into the mains), which connects to several mobile networks and enables residents to interact with a range of services, such as the OKEachDay system for housing, repair reporting, and enhanced messaging.

Connecting the device to WiFi allows extra features to become available, including video calling and our secure video door entry system (linking this to the portable touchscreen means residents can answer the door from the comfort of their armchair).

We will also be presenting a range of additional services, including our comprehensive fire safety system, OKEachDay housing system and digital telecare, all of which can be combined to provide a cost-effective alternative to replace outdated hardwired alarms and future-proof your housing service.

Alongside our guest speaking slot, the Alertacall team will also be at stand G12 where they will be showcasing demo suites of our technology. Book your tickets for Housing 2022 here.
