The weather has started to pick up and the sun has made a very welcomed appearance, just in time for the start of event season!

Earlier this month, our Client Development Managers, Nigel and David were in a very sunny Glasgow for Scotland’s Housing Festival. The event was well attended and there were some great discussions and talks! The team enjoyed catching up with some familiar faces and meeting new ones too!

Scotland's Housing Festival

Regulator of Social Housing CEO Fiona McGregor said that the social housing sector “is capable of being a real force for good” and spoke of the importance of ensuring tenants’ homes are safe and that they are treated seriously and with respect.

CEO of Hanover Scotland Housing Association, Angela Currie addressed Scotland’s housing emergency through the lens of older people’s housing and mentioned that there has been a 38% increase in the number of people aged 65 and over in Scotland over the past 20 years, while there is predicted to be a “massive increase” in the number of people aged 75 and over in the coming years and decades. “The need for good quality accessible housing has never been more powerful and important,” she said.

SHINE Together 2026

On 18th March, we were delighted to sponsor SHINE (Social Housing Innovation North East) Together 2026, where housing providers came together for a day of inspiring sessions and collaboration to share challenges and best practice.

Our Head of Client Development, Ben Lambert, took to the stage to present how our client, Places for People, the UK’s leading Social Enterprise has embraced technology and innovation to enhance the way they support customers, increase customer engagement, reduce digital exclusion and identify the changing needs of ageing residents.

Places for People deployed Alertacall’s Housing Proactive® service, which helps housing providers stay better connected with residents while gaining real-time insight into people and properties. Designed for older customers and those with higher needs, it combines ingenious technology through a portable touchscreen and environmental sensors, with proactive contact from people who care, 365 days a year. It provides two-way messaging, surveys, repairs and ASB reporting as well as access to other digital services. Providers improve engagement, identify risks earlier, meet regulatory expectations and deliver more efficient, proactive services.

By adopting innovative technologies like Alertacall’s Housing Proactive® service, refining processes, and re-imagining the approach to complex issues, Places for People are able to continuously improve outcomes for their customers – whether that’s through better two-way engagement, easier repairs reporting or more human contact when needed.
